We’re thrilled to announce an exciting addition to the OSTEN & VICTOR Alberta Tennis Centre team: tennis professional Daniel Henschel. Scheduled to join us on July 1, 2024, Daniel brings with him a wealth of experience and a passion for tennis that is truly infectious.

Meet Daniel Henschel

Daniel’s roots run deep in Edmonton, Alberta, where he was born and raised. His journey with tennis began at the age of 8, and he quickly fell in love with the sport. Although he was a multi-sport athlete until the age of 14, tennis captured his heart with its dynamic nature and endless possibilities for growth.

Embodying a growth mindset, Daniel believes that tennis is a game of constant evolution. To better serve his clients and continue his professional development, he is dedicated to ongoing coach education. This commitment has led him to pursue certification with Tennis Canada, where he is currently completing his Coach 2 certification.

Daniel’s prowess on the court is evident not only in his coaching but also in his own playing career. As one of the top open players in Canada, he has achieved impressive rankings in both singles and doubles competitions. His accomplishments include a Canadian Open Singles ranking of 37 and a doubles ranking of 43.

Education has always been a priority for Daniel, who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation, Sport & Tourism from the University of Alberta. During his time at the university, he was a standout member of the Golden Bears Tennis Team, leading them to a Canadian University Tennis Championship in 2016 and securing a bronze medal in subsequent years.

A Passionate Coach and Mentor

As a certified Club Professional 2 coach and Team Alberta Provincial Coach, Daniel is deeply committed to raising the standard of Canadian tennis. His coaching philosophy centers on developing not only players’ skills but also their love for the game. Over the years, he has helped numerous athletes achieve college scholarships, provincial rankings, national recognition, and even international success.

Daniel’s dedication to the sport extends beyond the court. He is fluent in English and Polish, reflecting his commitment to connecting with players from diverse backgrounds and fostering a welcoming environment within the tennis community.
