COVID Restriction Update - New Information

MEMO: OSTEN & VICTOR Alberta Tennis Centre COVID-19 Update – NEW INFORMATION
FROM:  Danny Da Costa, Chief Executive Officer
TO:       OSTEN & VICTOR Alberta Tennis Centre Members & Program Participant
DATE:   April 13, 2021

Dear Member & Program Participant,

Yesterday afternoon we received guidance that AHS has once again revised their permitted activities for tennis. We have been assessing the guidance from AHS given the almost daily changes to permitted activities.

Given the new information we have received and, in the interest of public safety, effective immediately we will allow only the following activities:

Indoor - Permitted Activities:

  • Private Lessons 1-on-1 (1 person with Alberta Tennis Centre certified coach only)
  • Semi-Private Lessons with two members of the same household (with ATC certified coach only)
  • All junior development and high-performance programs are permitted to continue with 10 people (including coaches)
  • Singles play with members of the same household only
  • Serve Practice (1-person per court only) with supervision ATC staff
  • Use of Ball Machine (1-person per court) with supervision ATC staff
  • Use of Play Sight with a Ball Machine or serve practice with basket of balls (1-person per court only)
  • Tennis Assessment (30 minutes) 1-on-1 (with ATC certified coach)

Outdoor – Permitted Activities:

  • Singles and Doubles with members of any household are permitted
  • Adult Outdoor Only - Group lessons with up to 10 people total including coaches are permitted

I recognize that tennis is safe and our facility has done a remarkable job of keeping people safe. We also recognize that the constant changes are frustrating for our business and for our membership. However, we must act in the best interests of public health at this time.

We will continue to work hard with our fellow clubs and Tennis Alberta to fully reopen tennis facilities and activities when it is safe to do so.

I will be in touch with you as soon as I have further clarification from Tennis Alberta and Alberta Health Services.  As always, thank you for your patience and support.

Regards,

DANNY DA COSTA
