Growing the Game

Growing the Game

On Friday, November 24, 2017 we were delighted to welcome Blessed Cardinal Newman school to ATC for a morning of tennis. In total, 59 students of all ages arrived at the centre excited and ready to learn, keen to come inside from the cold and enjoy a sport which many had never experienced before.

On arrival, students were visibly excited to be playing in such a beautiful facility and were desperate to get started on court. After a short introduction to the centres values, four of our tennis professionals started the players off with some self rallying skills before progressing onto other games and practices which allowed everyone to develop their skills.

Greig Ewing, our Head of Talent ID, Schools and Camps commented that the students were superb! Engaged and polite from the first to the last minute and a pleasure to teach. The feedback from students was equally positive, with many in disbelief that the 90 minutes had disappeared so quickly!

This visit from Blessed Cardinal Newman is one of many recent schools visits to the centre, from all ages of establishment. Additionally, our coaches have been busy taking our services to schools themselves, delivering outstanding instruction to students without the transport requirements that are so often challenging for schools.

If you know a school that would be interested in being a part of the Canadian Western Bank School Tennis Program please contact Greig at gewing@albertatenniscentre.ca and help us introduce the wonderful game of tennis to the next generation!
