Simon has many years of experience teaching tennis as well as having been a professional tennis player for 8 years. During his playing years, he defeated Kelly Jones (former #1 in the world doubles player, US Davis Cup player) and had the opportunity to play against Guy Forget at the Canadian Open (now known as Rogers Cup), competing against the likes of Paul Annacone, Sergio Casal, Peter Lundgreen, and Glenn Michibata, to name a few.
Before arriving at the O&V Alberta Tennis Center, he worked at The Smith Stearns Tennis Academy in Hilton Head Island, SC where he was coaching nationally and internationally ranked juniors, and travelling to some of the best junior tournaments in the world. He gained valuable experience working alongside the likes of Stan Smith, former Wimbledon and US Open Men’s Singles Champion, and Billy Stearns who is a highly accomplished coach in the United States.
Simon has also worked at prestigious tennis clubs in all of Canada, such as the Granite Club in Toronto, and The Toronto Lawn Tennis Club, in which he was responsible for running large social events, club championships, ladies and men’s leagues.
Simon holds Tennis Canada Coach 3 certification as well as Tennis Canada Club Pro 2 certification.
